SYRIA: ISIS attacks Syrian regime positions in Dayro Zcuro and Hemto

DAYRO ZCURO and HEMTO, Syria — Members of the Islamic State (ISIS) carried out several attacks on the positions of Syrian regime forces and associated militias in the eastern countryside of Hemto (Hama) and the countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor).

The attacks in Hemto reportedly occurred in the Al-Fasideh, Al-Tanahij, and Totyan areas. In Dayro Zcuro, locations in the Al-Rusafa desert were targeted.

Russian jet fighters responded to the incidents and conducted a series of air strikes.

According to sources, there were dozens of casualties on both sides.

Members of ISIS carrying automatic weapons were reportedly wandering the streets of Al-Busirah in the eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro, which is under the control of the regime forces. The armed ISIS fighters were apparently informing women who work in the shops to adhere to the ISIS standards of “Islamic dress” and warned the women not to violate their orders.

This incident is not the first of its kind. Earlier this year, four ISIS members wandered the streets of Al-Busirah on motorbikes, chanting ISIS phrases such as the “Islamic State will remain” before fleeing to an unknown location.
