NORTH EAST SYRIA: “Writer of the future” competition holds finals and announces children winners
ZALIN ܙܐܠܝܢ – The Al-Jazeera Culture and Art Directorate this Thursday held the finals of the “Writer of Future” competition at the Mohammed Shekho Center for Culture and Art in Zalin (Qamishli). The event was attended by dozens of parents and children participating in the competition, members of the Culture and Art Directorate. The Co-President of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration’s Gozarto Region (al-Jazira) Nazira Goreya.
Nazira Goreya (Syriac Union Party) held a speech in which she expressed her gratefulness to the Culture and Art Directorate for organizing this competition to encourage children to read and write instead of the current trend to only surf the Internet. She also stressed that such multi-cultural competitions are the result of “the revolution of Administration which began with the revolution of co-living of all components of North and East Syria.”
The “martyr Jabr Qamishlo” band performed folk dance, and the children’s band Karbawi Flowers gave a musical performance. In the end, books were distributed to all children participating in the competition after which the prizes were distributed to six winners.
