IRAQ: Bethnahrain Patriotic Union receives Palestinian Ambassador, meets new Ankawa District Governor

ANKAWA, Iraq – President of the Bethnahrain Patriotic Party (HBA) Yusuf Yahqub Matti received Nazmi Hazouri, ambassador of Palestine to the Kurdish Region in Iraq (KRI), this Sunday at the HBA headquarters in Ankawa. In the friendly visit, HBA President Yusuf Yahqub Matti welcomed the ambassador and expressed his disappointment at the overextended pain of the Palestinian people, which has persisted for more than 72 years. HBA President Yusuf Yahqub Matti made clear that the Palestinian issue can only be resolved in peace and safety. Only a peaceful solution can end the tragedies of the Palestinian people.

Commenting on the meeting, Yahqub Matti referenced the difficult and violent situations in many Middle Eastern countries. For the sake of stability in the region and the fulfillment of peoples’ demands for dignity, freedom, development, and building a happy state for mankind, only continued appeals to the United Nations and the international community can end the miseries of the peoples and bring an end to wars and hostilities. The Palestinian issue is a focal point for peace in the region and HBA expressed its support for a two-state solution which can only take place under supervision of the United Nations and the development of an integrated peace process for the Palestinian and Jewish peoples.

The HBA President affirmed that the shortest and safest path, is the path of peace. And this may require concessions from both countries in an atmosphere that suits the logic of the age, being peace and love. For his part, Palestinian ambassador Nazmi Hazouri emphasized that the approach of Palestine for peace is through continuous dialogue and under international supervision.

In related news; the Bethnahrain Patriotic Union delegation headed its President also made a visit to newly appointed District Governor of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian Ankawa district Rami Nuri Siawash. The visiting delegation extended its congratulations to the district governor on assuming his new position in Ankawa, now a suburb of Erbil in northern Iraq.

HBA President Yusuf Yahqub Matti and District Governor Rami Nuri Siawash, two Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian officials, remembered the tragedies of the past in which history put the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in similar uncertain and critical situations in Mesopotamia, discussed the situation of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in the KRI and the Nineveh Plain and the issue of how to preserve their linguistic and national heritage.

Commenting on the meeting, Yahqub Matti said that “only through determination and loyalty to the land, its legacy and its authenticity, was our people able to overcome the trials and ordeals of the past. And this gives us hope that, as long as there are parties and organizations fighting for this, our Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people will endure these trials and ascertain its right to self-government (autonomy) in the Nineveh Plain.” The HBA President expressed the party’s willingness and full support to Ankawa District Governor Rami Nuri Siawash to serve the Chaldean-Syrian-Assyrian people.
