Tel Abyad Military Council: We will not allow more safe villages to be occupied by Turkey
HASAKAH, Syria — Head of the Tel Abyad Military Council (TAMC) Riad Khalaf stated that Russian and Syrian regime forces have not intervened or responded to the Turkish attacks on Ayn Issa and stressed that the TAMC will not allow Turkey to occupy more land in North and East Syria.
Turkish and Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) forces have been conducting intense artillery bombardments around Ayn Issa and other villages along the frontline last week following a series of failed infiltration attempts by the SNA and a successful infiltration by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) opposing them.
Shelling has become a daily occurrence along the Tel Abyad–Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ayn) frontline. Civillian areas have also been targeted and have resulted in the death and injury of a number of civilians, including a child.
Khalaf said that the TAMC forces will continue to exercise their legitimate right to self-defense against the attacks of Turkey and its proxies.
According to the Khalaf, Russian and Syrian regime forces in the area have done nothing to respond to the increased Turkish aggression.
Turkish shelling has also increased around Mabbug (Manbij) farther west. On Monday, the villages of Tokhar, Jat, and Dandinia were targeted with heavy weapons. As was Shaal village in the Shahbab area.
