IRAQ: Syriac Writers Union in Ankawa celebrates Syriac Press Day
ANKAWA, Iraq — Despite the coronavirus that has plagued Iraq and countries around the globe for the better part of a year now, the Syriac Writers Union of Iraq celebrated Syriac Press Day in the hall of the Social Academic Center in Ankawa. However, this year’s ceremony was limited to a small number of invitees and was kept brief.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence to commemorate Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian martyrs, followed by the extension of congratulations to all Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian journalists by the General Center of Iraqi Journalists Union and Kurdistan Journalists Union.
The Syriac Culture Office of the General Union of Writers in Iraq delivered a speech emphasizing their support for Syriac culture and praising the role of the Syriac Writers Union in this regard.
Head of the Syriac Writers Union Rawand Boulos gave a speech highlighting the aspirations and efforts of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian journalists highlighting the daily reality of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people.
