U.S. Elections: Syriac Chaldean Eric Esshaki (R) leads in Michigan’s 11th District, Sargis Sangari (R) loses election in Illinois’ 9th District
MICHIGAN / ILLINOIS – Syriac Chaldean Eric Esshaki of Birmingham is leading incumbent U.S. Dem. Representative Haley Stevens with 53% to 45% in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. With 64% of votes counted as at 3 a.m. E.T., Eric Esshaki (39) seems on his way for a first term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Full election results for Michigan are not expected until Wednesday night.
Syriac Assyrian Sargis Sangari (51) of Skokie, Illinois, is trailing U.S. Dem. Representative Jan Schakowsky with 67% to 32% in Illinois’ 9th Congressional District. With 69% of votes counted, Jan Schakowsky is up for her twelfth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
