U.S. Elections: Syriac Anna Eshoo wins re-election to House of Representatives

CALIFORNIA / WASHINGTON – Syriac Assyrian Anna Eshoo has managed to win re-election for the Democratic Party to the House of Representatives. With 73% of votes counted, the race is called. Eshoo defeated Republican opponent Rishi Kumar. Anna Eshoo (77) is a long-time serving Democratic representative for California’s 18th congressional district – which includes Palo Alto, Stanford, and parts of San Jose. She assumed office in 1993.

Anna Georges Eshoo is a Syriac Assyrian born in New Britain, Connecticut. Her father was a Syriac Assyrian and member of the Chaldean Catholic Church. Her mother an Armenian who fled Armenia and Iraq for the United States.
