Despite security operations, ISIS activity continues across central and northern Iraq

TEL KAIF / MAKHMOUR, Iraq — Despite widespread efforts by Iraqi security forces to root out the remain Islamic State (ISIS) presence in the country, attacks from ISIS cells continue.

ISIS fighters targeted the Wana sub-district of Tel Kaif, north of Mosul, with three mortar shells on Thursday.

Three ISIS fighters were reportedly killed in airstrikes carried out by French planes in the Qarajough mountains in Makhmour district, near Erbil, according to security sources.

In the Iraqi Province of Diyala, an explosive device targeted an emergency police patrol of the 8th Regiment in the village of Al-Kubba, east of Al-Abbara district, northeast of Baqubah, killing a policeman and wounding two others.
