TURKEY: Ali Babacan says Turkey will not recover under Erdogan
ANKARA – The head of Turkey’s opposition Party for Democracy and Progress (DEVA) Ali Babacan has blamed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the poor economic situation in Turkey. Ali Babacan said that “Turkey will not recover under Erdogan’s rule,” and stressed the need for comprehensive political reform away from Erdogan’s government to improve the situation and solve problems that he described as out of control.
For his part, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary group of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Engin Özkoç, called on Erdogan to resign. Engin Özkoç pointed out that Erdogan and Co. have plundered Turkey and sunk the economy as a result of mismanagement. He also said that the actions of the ruling Justice and Development Party were a resort to repression, arrest, and violence, and destroyed the justice system in Turkey.
Day after day, statements appear denouncing the deterioration and collapse of the Turkish economy, particularly from within Turkey, and the economic policies under responsibility of President Erdogan.
