Women’s Council of North and East Syria and Syriac Union Party discuss first annual conference and work of Council
ZALIN, Syria — A delegation from the Women’s Council of North and East Syria visited the Syriac Union Party (SUP) headquarters in Zalin (Qamishli), Syria on Monday to discuss the structure of the Women’s Council and ways to develop its work.
The Women’s Council delegation was received by several SUP members including, SUP Executive Committee Member Nazira Goreya and party members Noura Hanna and Mariana Issa.
The discussion touched on the first annual conference of the Women’s Council, which will be held soon. The two parties also exchanged views and suggestions on the best structure and appropriate themes for the conference, as well as developing the bylaws of the Council and the upcoming annual evaluation of the work of the Council.
The Women’s Council was established in 2019 and includes a number of women’s organizations, institutions, and unions from various political parties and independent civil society organizations from across North and East Syria.
The Syriac Women’s Union (SWU), which is affiliated with the SUP, is a founding member of the Women’s Council.
