NORTH AND EAST SYRIA: Zalin (Qamishli) Child Protection Office in Qamishli receives 16 complaints
ZALIN (QAMISHLI) – The Zalin Office for the Protection of Children in Armed Conflicts issued a statement in a press conference and said it has received 16 complaints of violations against children. The statement was read by the Co-Presidency of the Zalin (Qamishli) Office and declared they are continuously working to provide the necessary protection for children and their rehabilitation through courses, psychological support, and re-engagement into the community.
The statement read:
“We educate every child who lives in the northern and eastern regions of Syria, that we are always here, ready to provide protection and security and defend the child’s rights in accordance with the revolution in North and East Syria. Our Qamishli Office has so far been informed of 16 complaints. Four children have been successfully returned to their families through this Office.
We assure all those who have come to us about their child, some of whom have been recruited with their consent or for other reasons, that we will work to provide the necessary protection and rehabilitation through psychological support and training courses to re-engage them into society. And we also repeat through the media to the parents who have filed complaints, that we are always ready to work to protect the rights of children in North and East Syria.
We do this in coordination with SDF and the United Nations, and in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council.”
