SUP Co-Chair Barsoum: Dialogues on Administration’s effectiveness important step towards better governance

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In an interview with SuroyoTV, Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP), Sanharib Barsoum, discussed Wednesday’s “Children of the Gozarto Region and the Euphrates Conference” organized to review the work of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria. Barsoum attended the conference in his official capacity as SUP Co-Chair and stressed that important recommendations were put forward to improve the work of the DAA. A committee will be formed to follow up on these recommendations, he said.

Barsoum told SuroyoTV that deficiencies in the DAA’s performance were highlighted at the conference, and several attendees noted the need to increase people’s participation in the DAA governance structures.

Such conferences and dialogues are an important step towards improved governance, he said.

Over the past few months, the DAA and Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) have organized a series of public dialogues about democratic governance in North and East Syria and the country as a whole.

The dialogues are intended to facilitate discussion on the structure of the administrative system, hear people’s complaints, and discuss ways towards improvement.
