Lebanese President Aoun issues decision compensating Beirut explosion victims

BEIRUT — Several months on from the devasting explosion at Beirut’s port which left hundreds dead, thousands wounded, Lebanese President Michel Aoun issued a decision to compensate families of victims of the explosion.

Lebanese media sources reported that Aoun’s decision enables those who were disabled as a result of the explosion to benefit from health benefits of the National Social Security Fund. They can also benefit from the law related to rights of people with special needs.

On 4 August, a devastating explosion hit the port of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, leaving more than 200 dead, 6,000 wounded, and 300,000 homeless, in addition to massive destruction in the port, nearby buildings, and infrastructure.
