NORTH AND EAST SYRIA: Dayrik official discusses infrastructure projects for coming year

DAYRIK, Syria — Hassan Mohammed, a member of the Engineering Commission in the local administration of Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah) in North and East Syria, stated that the Commissions projects for 20202 were mostly infrastructure projects, such as improved sanitation and upgrades of the city roads, alongside routine repair and maintenance work. Mohammed said that the Commission anticipates that 2021’s projects will be a continuation of this year’s work.

Mohammed said there has been support from some organizations and churches for several projects, stressing that planning for projects for women and the environment, including the construction of a waste station for Dayrik, are still underway.

Some of the more ambitious projects for 2021, said Mohammed, are the construction of new bridges and ferry crossings over the Tigris and the drilling of two wells to increase access to water resources in the city.
