NORTH AND EAST SYRIA: Democratic Autonomous Administration announces partial curfew

GOZARTO (JAZIRA), Syria – The Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria on Sunday announced stricter measures and a partial curfew to counter the spread of COVID-19. The partial curfew will be effective  until from Sunday.

Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Gozarto (Jazira) Region Nazira Goreya explained the measures of the partial curfew in an interview with radio station Suroyo FM. All citizens and DAA employees of DAA institutions must wear muzzles, introduce personal prevention measures, apply social distancing in all places, and make them part of their daily lives until the end of the epidemic.

Shops selling food and vegetables are allowed to open until 4 p.m. except for major markets. Schools, universities, and educational facilities will remain open under strict prevention and health measures. Public transport to and from places in North and East Syria is allowed. Places of worship are not closed except for Friday prayers and Sunday mass with all necessary preventive and health measures taken. All major places of gathering and festivities such as wedding halls, funeral tents, meetings, conferences continue to be banned.
