Executive Council of Gozarto Region of North and East Syria visits site of landfill project

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Region in North and East Syria Nazira Goreya told SuroyoTV that the Co-Chairship of the Executive Council and the Municipal Directorate toured the new landfill project servicing entire region.

The project includes several collection points, associated hardware, a large central landfill, and collection vehicles that will service the cities of Zalin (Qamishli), Amuda, Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah), and Hasakah, said Goreya.

Goreya pointed out that the establishment of the landfill will help to eliminate the informal dumping of garbage in locations across the region and improve the environmental health and cleanliness of the region. The landfill, set to open in February 2021, will also help to keep refuse from being dumped in or near agricultural areas.
