North and East Syria: General Council decides to amend Democratic Autonomous Administration Charter

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA –The General Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) on Sunday held a formal meeting during which new Council members and Co-Chairs for the Legislative and Justice Councils for the DAA’s regions were appointed. The meeting in the hall of Future Syria Party in Ayn Issa, was headed by the Co-Chairs of the General Council Siham Quryo and Farid Atti.

Newly elected members of the Social Justice Council, Legislative Council and the General Council Members were appointed by voting after which the new Co-Chairs of the Social Justice Councils in the DAA regions were sworn in: Reem Barakat (Gozarto (Jazira) Region), Farouq Hankon (Euphrates Region), Nisreen Jamous (Tabqa Region), and Amal Abdul Rahman (Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor Region).

In Sunday’s meeting, the General Council also approved the forming of a committee to amend and draft a new charter for the Democratic Autonomous Administration. General Council Co-Chair Siham Quryo (Syriac Union Party) stated to the media after the Council meeting that “the General Council decided to form a committee to amend the DAA Charter and turn it into a social contract. The decision comes as an outcome of the Syrian Democratic Council’s National Conference for the Children of the Gozarto and the Euphrates on November 25, in Hasakah.”
