IRAQ: Syriac Chaldean Patriarch Sako appoints temporary replacement for the ill Archbishop of Nohadra
BAGHDAD — The media office of Patriarch of Babylon of the Syriac Chaldeans and head of the Syriac Chaldean Catholic Church Louis Raphaël I Sako announced in a statement on Thursday that temporary changes have been made in its parishes in Iraq.
In view of the illness of Archbishop Rabban al-Qas and his travel abroad for treatment, read the statement, Patriarch Sako contacted the Archbishops of the Permanent Council of the Patriarchate and requested their advice in accordance with the laws of the Church.
The Permanent Council unanimously agreed to appoint Archbishop of Mosul Najib Mikhael Mousa as temporary replacement of the Diocese of Nohadra.
Patriarch Sako briefed the bishops of Iraq on the temporary appointment during their meeting on 10 December in Baghdad.
According to the statement, Patriarch Sako requested prayers for the health of Archbishop Rabban.
