On his first official visit, Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yosef inaugurates a Jewish school in the United Arab Emirates
TEL AVIV / ABU DHABI — On Thursday, Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef made his first official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to inaugurate a Jewish school for the Jewish community in the UAE.
During the four-days visit, Yosef is due to meet senior Emirati officials and inaugurate the Jewish school. Rabbi Levi Duchman is set to be appointed as Rabbi of the Emirati Jewish community.
Yosef will also visit the Jewish Community Center and the Beit Tefillah Synagogue in Dubai and the Kosher Restaurant in Burj Khalifa.
“It is a great honor for us to welcome Chief Rabbi here in the UAE,” Rabbi Duchman declared, indicating that his visit is a historic step forward for Israeli–Emirati relations.
“The Jewish community in the UAE is currently inaugurating many new institutions which are being built quickly and efficiently,” Duchman concluded.
