Christmas event in Hasakah in North and East Syria attended by Syriac, Armenian, Kurdish, and other residents of the city

HASAKAH, Syria — The Syriac Progressive Youth Union in Syria, in cooperation with the Youth and Sports Authority in North and East Syria’s Gozarto (Jazira) Region, held a Christmas celebration in Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) Martyrs’ Square in Hasakah city.

The celebration included putting up a Christmas tree and decorating it with lights. The event was attended by a large number of the city’s residents from all backgrounds — Syriac, Armenian, Kurdish, and others.

Delegations from the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) in Gozarto Region also attended the celebration.

The celebration was a message of peace by the indigenous Syriac people to the whole world, said one member of the Syriac Progressive Youth Union who attended the event. It was also a sign of coexistence between the peoples of North and East Syria, as well as a gleam of hope that the coming year will bring peace and security and end the tragedies and crises of Syria and the whole world, they added.
