IRAQ: U.S.-led international coalition convoy targeted in southeastern Iraq
KERKESLOKH (KIRKUK), ANBAR, Iraq – An improvised explosive device (IED) has exploded while a convoy carrying equipment for the U.S.-led International Coalition was passing north of Hilla on the highway linking Babylon and Baghdad. There are no casualties reported. An Iraqi security source in Babylon said that the police had secured the place of the incident and started inspecting for any other potential explosives.
Iraqi security forces have arrested nine members of an ISIS cell in two separate operations in the provinces of Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk) and Anbar. The Iraqi security apparatus announced it had carried Operation Thunder of the Night in the past few days, which resulted in the shutting down of a terrorist network responsible for carrying out several recent bombings in Baghdad.
