Syriac Patriarchs send Christmas blessings

Daramsuq (Damascus) – Syriac Melkite Catholics Mor Youssef Absi praised the role of Christmas in bringing believers closer, filling their hearts with love and strengthening their relationship. Mor Youssef Absi called on Christians all over the world to pray and work for a world in which peace and security prevail.

Syriac Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II congratulated the Syriac people and Christians all over the world on Christmas, asking God that peace and security may prevail soon in Syria and the whole world, and prayed for the coronavirus pandemic to be eliminated.

Armenian Apostolic Archbishop of Damascus joined Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II for the Christmas service at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Daramsuq (Damascus).

Bkerké, Lebanon – Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Raï delivered a sermon in which he emphasized a quick solution to the current Lebanese crises. His Holiness expressed his hope that President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Hariri would succeed quickly in forming a solid government that contributes to Lebanon’s development.


 

Baghdad – Patriarch of Babylon of the Syriac Chaldean Catholics Mor Louis Sako sent Christmas congratulations to Christians all over the world calling for solidarity and coexistence between the believers, and for Christians and Muslims to build a unified and coherent Iraqi state. Iraqi President Barham Salih participated in the Christmas service.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustapha al-Kadhimi participated in celebrations at the Syriac Catholic Our Lady of Deliverance Church in Baghdad.
