SYRIA: Democratic Union Party delegation visits Syriac Union Party in Zalin on Christmas
ZALIN, SYRIA — To emphasize coexistence among the peoples of North and East Syria, a delegation from the Democratic Union Party (PYD) consisting of PYD Relations Office Co-Chairs Rohat Mulla Khalil and Khalil Othman, PYD spokesperson Sama Bakdash, and member of the Relations Office Sheikh Ragheb al-Faris visited the headquarters of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Zalin (Qamishli). The delegation was received by SUP Co-Chair Sanharib Barsoum and members of SUP Council Elizabeth Gawriye and Robel Baho.
The parties discussed the political situation in North and East Syria and the wider country, as well as ways to enhance coexistence among the peoples of the region and cooperation between the two parties.
At the visit’s conclusion, the PYD delegation extended Christmas well-wishes to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and wished them peace and security in the New Year.
Together, officials from both parties visited the local council of the Syriac Orthodox at its headquarters in Mor Yaqoub al-Nusaybini Church in Zalin. There, the officials exchanged Christmas greetings with members of the Church. They were received by the Vice-Chairman of the local council, Abd al-Masih Malko, and members of the council: George Safar, Sanharib Gawriye, Samer Gawriye, and Khamri Hanna.
The discussion revolved around the living conditions of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and their level of satisfaction with services provided by the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA).
All those involved affirmed their eagerness to promote coexistence between all peoples and the importance of solidarity in improving the economic situation and the provision of services in the region.
