16 perpetrators of New Year’s Eve attack on tourists outside Family Mall in Erbil in Kurdistan Region of Iraq arrested
ERBIL, Iraq — The Erbil Police Directorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) issued a statement concerning an incident that occurred in front of the Family Mall on New Year’s Eve.
“On New Year’s Eve, an attack took place in front of the Family Mall in Erbil,” read the statement. “The perpetrators attacked some tourists and passersby, causing damage to a number of buses and cars.”
“For this reason, the security forces and the police arrested 16 suspects under Articles 477 and 413 of the Penal Code,” the statement added, indicating that anyone who was harmed in this incident can visit Erbil Police Directorate to take legal action.
Erbil Police Directorate stated that anyone who commits a crime will not escape the law and will be brought to justice.
