SDC official Gabriel Chamoun: We refuse to hand over Ayn Issa to regime forces
ZALIN, Syria — In a special statement to SuroyoFM, Deputy Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Gabriel Chamoun pointed out that the Turkish forces and their Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies in North and East Syria are continuing their attacks on the town of Ayn Issa in an attempt to capture more Syrian territory as Russia silently watches on.
The Russians are trying to pressure the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to hand over the town to regime forces, said Chamoun, noting that the SDC and SDF refuse to hand over the town to regime forces.
As for the tension between the Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria and the regime aligned National Defense Forces (NDF) in the city of Zalin (Qamishli), Chamoun pointed out that regime is stoking tensions in an attempt to pressure the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) to hand over areas to regime forces and reestablish a central government presence.
Chamoun stressed that the resistance of the SDF and ISF have countered all regime attempts at reassert control over the region.
The SDC are ready for any genuine political process that seeks to bring Syrians together to end the Syrian crisis and the widespread destruction that a decade of civil war has brought, said Chamoun.
There must be an end to the displacement and killing, he continued, and the beginnings of peace, pluralism, and decentralization.
