Chaldean Patriarchate condemns suicide attack in Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans Louis Raphaël I Sako issued a statement strongly condemning the twin suicide bombings that took place in Baghdad on Thursday morning killing at least 32 and injuring over 100 others.

“Politics is an honorable responsibility to achieve peace, security. and a decent life for citizens,” the statement read. “After 18 years of conflict and suffering, it is time for the Iraqis to reconcile and move on to pull the country out of the collapse by liberating the country from political and partisan disputes, as well as sectarianism and quotas.”

Patriarch Sako’s statement concluded by saying, “It is a difficult fateful time, every Iraqi is called on to turn the past and go forward with enthusiasm, to contribute to building the country in a sound and strong structure, in addition to building societies with citizenship, tolerance, diversity, respect for the law and the state.”
