U.S. Ambassador to UNSC Kelly Craft: The Council has failed to meet the needs of the Syrian people
NEW YORK — In a strongly worded statement, her final address to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), U.S. Ambassador to the UNSC Kelly Craft admonished the Council for failing to meet the needs of the Syrian people and for establishing a clear path towards peace.
Craft called on the Syrian people not to participate in any nominal elections held by head of the Syrian regime Bashar al-Assad and expressed U.S. support for any plan to draft a new Syrian constitution in which all Syrians can participate.
Final UNSC address: I've aimed to speak with moral clarity and be a voice for the voiceless, including people of Syria who have been bombed, starved, displaced & tormented by the Assad regime. It’s scandalous this body has failed to address their needs and create a path to peace. pic.twitter.com/k9cFr0ngfm
