DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — Twelve members of forces affiliated with the Syrian regime were killed in an ambush by the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) in eastern Syria on Sunday.
The ambush targeted a military bus in Badia Shula. Following the attack, the Syrian regime sent military reinforcements to the area.
For months, Syrian regime forces with Russian support have tried to clear the Syrian desert of elements of the Islamic State. So far, they have had limited success. Attacks on Syrian regime and Iranian militia positions continue, as do the attacks on innocent civilians in the area.
