ZALIN, Syria — After a 10-month effort, the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria opened the first self-sufficient vegetable oil factory, the Golden Rose Factory, in the town of Abu Racine, south of Zalin (Qamishli).
Co-Chair of the Economic and Agriculture Authority of the DAA Salman Barodo celebrated the opening of the factory, pointing out that this step will contribute to the development of the region’s economy. The project, said Barodo, is a great achievement and an economic victory.
In the near future, North and East Syria will see the launching and completion of many other economic projects.
Barodo also noted that the production capacity of the Golden Rose Factory is approximately 300 tons per day, a market value of about $6 million.
Ahmed Hassan, owner of Hassan Commercial which worked on the project, explained that they started work on 15 March 2020 but were forced to postpone construction for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
