IRAQ: Beth Nahrain Organization for Women holds awareness-raising lecture series to inform women of their legal rights
BAGHDEDE, Iraq — On Monday, the Beth Nahrain Organization for Women (BNOW) held the first in a series of lectures about the legal rights of women in Iraq. The opening lecture, entitled “To Which Extent an Individual Can Be Protected by Law”, was delivered by lawyer Behnam Tobya at the organization’s headquarter in Baghdede (Qaraqosh) in Nineveh Plains. BNOW President Hanan Matti Touma and several other BNOW officials attended the lecture.
The aim of the lecture was to increase women’s awareness and knowledge of the Iraqi legal system to ensure their rights.
The next lecture in the series will be held in the next few days.
