Explosion near Israeli Embassy in India, Israeli politicians accuse Iran

NEW DELHI / TEL AVIV — A small explosion occurred near the Israeli Embassy in the Indian capital of New Delhi on Friday afternoon. The cause of the explosion is not yet clear.

The explosion occurred meters away from the embassy causing material damage in the immediate vicinity. Three cars were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Indian police believe the explosion was the result of an improvised explosive device.

Israeli military analyst Amir Boukhbut indicated that an investigation was underway to determine if the explosion was targeting the embassy.

Israeli analyst Or Heller pointed out that the Israeli Army indicated that the explosion was in fact targeting the embassy and believes Iran was behind the explosion.

Iran recently threatened to harm Israeli missions abroad in retaliation for the assassination of Iranian scientist Fakhrizadeh.
