Syriac Orthodox Church launches Initiative to strengthen Syriac language in coastal communities
TARTUS, Syria — Under the auspices of the Elias Hanna Foundation, the Diocese of Homs, Hama, Tartus and its Environs of the Syriac Orthodox Church organized a course to teach the principles of Syriac language in the city of Tartus.
The course is supervised by the deacon Medhat Warda, and the course curriculum is issued by the Friends of the Syriac Language Association of the Orthodox Diocese of Mount Lebanon.
The courses include 10 lessons ranging from learning crafts and movements, and then words, sentences, and simple grammatical structure. Each lesson is two hours and is given once per week. The course duration is three months and includes two examinations.
