ERBIL, Iraq — On Thursday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian made a phone conversation to Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) Masrour Barzani to discuss new information about the rocket attack on Erbil International Airport uncovered by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the central government in Baghdad during a joint investigation.
The new information has not yet been made public.
In their conversation, Barzani thanked Le Drian for his condemnation of the attack.
Both sides also agreed that the Islamic State (ISIS) still pose a real threat to the security of the region and stressed the need for close cooperation between Baghdad and the U.S.-led International Coalition.
They also emphasized, during the phone conversation, the need to continue strengthening the close friendly relations between the KRI and France.
