Nine suspected ISIS members arrested across Iraq on Monday

BAGHDAD / ANBAR, Iraq — On Monday, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Major General Yahya Rasoul announced that the Counter-Terrorism Apparatus, through a series of operations, arrested a member of the Islamic State in the Yarmouk neighborhood of Baghdad and two others in Anbar Governorate.

Maj. Gen. Rasoul indicated that counter-terrorism forces were also able to arrest several wanted terrorists in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.

The statement also pointed out that, in the performance of their duties in Fallujah, counter-terrorism forces arrested a suspected ISIS member, bringing the number of those arrested to six.

In related news, the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency at the Ministry of Interior announced on Monday that it arrested a three-member ISIS cell who were recruited to carry out a suicide operation to target the visitors of Imam al-Kadhim.

They had been arrested in the Al-Rusafa neighborhood in Baghdad.
