Syrian Democratic Forces refute claims made by Turkish Ministry of Defense

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Media Center of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) issued a statement on Monday refuting claims made by the Turkish Ministry of Defense claims that Turkish forces killed seven SDF members in the occupied territory and prevented a car bombing.

The statement read:

“On March 4th, 5th, and 7th, the Turkish Ministry of Defense published via its official accounts that it targeted seven of our fighters, resulting in their martyrdom in the areas of the so-called Euphrates Shield Zone, in addition to preventing them from setting off a car bomb. These events mentioned by the ministry not true.

The Turkish occupation is trying, through such news, to legitimize its attacks on the region, and we are confident that our people and public opinion do not believe such news.

The Turkish Defense Ministry claimed to have killed two SDF fighters who tried to infiltrate the Turkish occupation areas, adding that it had killed another fighter who was preparing to attack the so-called Euphrates Shield Zone. These statements are also untrue.”
