Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria concerned about Turkish military equipment transfer to Ayn Issa
AYN ISSA, Syria — The Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria expressed its concern about the Turkish occupation army sending military reinforcements to positions north of the city of Raqqa.
Deputy Director of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria Marine Major General Alexander Karpov indicated that the Russian side is extremely disturbed after the transfer of Turkish military equipment and fortifications around Ayn Issa district.
Karpov also noted that these actions violate the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and Russian at the end of October 2019 and undermine the joint efforts in resolving the Syrian conflict.
This is not the first time that the Turkish army and its Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies have reinforced the area, seemingly in preparation for an eventual offensive.
Turkish and SNA forces routinely bombard Ayn Issa and the surrounding villages and occasionally attempt to infiltrate and raid Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions along the frontline.
