HOLEB, Syria — After a battle with cancer, Syrian Armenian Catholic singer Mayada Basilis passed away at the age of 54, leaving behind a legacy of distinctive songs that pleased everyone who heard them.
Basilis’s husband, Musician Samir Quifati, confirmed last month via a press statement that she had cancer and asked her fans to pray for her.
Basilis is from the Syrian city of Holeb (Aleppo). She started her singing at the age of nine through Aleppo Radio Station.
She produced 14 albums throughout her career. Her most famous songs are Kidbak Helou and Mafi Shi Mistahel.
