Joint Operations Command in Iraq receives 36 surveillance towers from the U.S.-led International Coalition
BAGHDAD —The U.S.-led International Coalition delivered 36 surveillance towers equipped with thermal cameras to the Joint Operations Command in Iraq based at Al Asad Airbase. The shipment also included a container of spare materials and two generators for each tower.
Other equipment deliveries are expected in the coming weeks.
The official equipment delivered will have a clear impact on the capabilities of the Iraqi Army and enhance its ability to monitor the movements of the Islamic State.
Earlier this month, Al Asad Airbase came under rocket fire from Iranian-backed militias.
