Relief aid distribution continues to Syriac families in Lebanon
BEIRUT — In Lebanon, the “Hand in Hand” campaign to combat the food insecurity crisis in the country continues apace. On Monday, institutions of the Syriac community in Lebanon distributed relief aid baskets to 60 families on the occasions of feast of St. Ephrem the Syriac. The day also coincided with the one-week anniversary of the passing of Syrian Armenian Catholic singer Mayada Basilis and Mother’s Day.
This relief aid campaign was launched to ease the severe economic conditions facing Lebanon, including a dire economic collapse and unprecedented currency devaluation.
Lebanon has witnessed recent waves of protests calling for the tackling of corruption which has left the country economically destroyed and increased government transparency and accountability.
