Commander of Martyr Athro Saeed Regiment Matai Hanna: Our forces are participating in Al-Hol security operation

AL-HOL, Syria — In a statement to the Media Center of the Syriac Military Council (MFS), Commander of the Martyr Athro Saeed Regiment Matai Hanna revealed that his forces are a participating in the Humanity and Security Campaign in Al-Hol Refugee Camp to root out the Islamic State presence in the camp.

The security situation in the camp degraded over the last few months with 47 people killed since the beginning of the year.

Hanna also explained that the Syriac Military Council, originally formed to protect the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities of North and East Syria from the Islamic State, now are now fighting terrorism and extremism in all areas of North and East Syria as a founding member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The MFS has been actively defending the Tel Tamr and the surrounding villages in the Khabur River valley from Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) who invaded the region in October 2019.

Hanna, stressed that the MFS will continue their work in the fight against ISIS, promising the people and martyrs of the region to continue their resistance until they establish peace, safety, and a political system based on the brotherhood of peoples and the rights of minorities.
