Two rockets land near Balad Military Air Base hosting U.S. forces north of Baghdad

BAGHDAD — An Iraqi security source reported that two missiles landed north of Baghdad near Balad Military Air Force Base which hosts U.S. forces. No information was received about any casualties.

The source confirmed that the two missiles were launched from the Dogma area within the Diyala operation sector.

The source also confirmed that the targeted Balad Air Base contains Iraqi fighter aircraft squadrons.

This attack comes three days before the start of a strategic dialogue between Baghdad and Washington. Pro-Iranian militias in Iraq are usually behind such attacks, according to the U.S.
