SYRIA: Father Murad Murad, Priest of St. Shemuni Church passes away in Dayrik
DAYRIK, Syria — The Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) of Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah) in North and Syria mourned the passing of Father Murad Youssef Murad on Thursday morning. His body was transferred to the Church of St. Shemuni where a prayer service was held to be held in the evening.
Father Murad was born to Youssef and Gazia Murad in Dayrik in 1950. He married Anisa Ibrahim and had five children.
After completing his studies, Father Murad worked in the oil fields of Rmelan for over 18 years until 1982 when he was appointed Priest of the Syriac Orthodox Church of St. Shemuni. He was appointed as head of all Syriac Orthodox churches in Dayrik in June 2007.
Father Murad was known for his good spirit, work ethic, and loyalty to the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Christian people of Dayrik.
Prayers, presided over by Archbishop Mor Maurice Amsih, will be held this evening at the Church of St. Shemuni in Dayrik.
