Gabriel Shamoun: Case of kidnapped Archbishops will not be forgotten

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA – The 22nd of April marks the 8th anniversary of kidnapping of Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Holeb (Aleppo) Youhanna Ibrahim and Greek Orthodox Archbishop Boulos Yaziji who were abducted under mysterious circumstances in Holeb in 2013.

Deputy Co-Chair of the Syriac Democratic Council (SDC) and Member of the Council of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Gabriel Shamoun told SuroyoTV that, “On the 8th anniversary of kidnapping the two Archbishops, we say that their case will not be forgotten, and we will continue to demand the disclosure of their fate because it is a fundamental and painful issue for the Syriac (Aramean– Assyrian–Chaldean) people.”

“On this basis, we as the SUP, will continue to demand disclosing their fate as long as we live,” he added, indicating that this issue is a matter of human and religious rights that concerns all Christian peoples.

The Archbishops were abducted when they crossed an unidentified checkpoint in a village near Mansoura in the countryside of Holeb in April 2013. No credible information about them has been received since their abduction until now.
