Confirmation of 56 children celebrated at Syriac Orthodox Church of St. Gerges in Hasakah in North and East Syria
HASAKAH, Syria — In the presence of Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of the Diocese of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih, 56 children celebrated their Confirmation at St. Gerges church in Hasakah in North and East Syria on Monday.
The Holy Liturgy was attended by head of the Mary Virgin Monastery at Tal Wardiyat Father Rabban Ephrem al-Hinno, Priest and Secretary of the Archdiocese Father Anthonios al-Hinno, as well as Priest and Director of St. Ephrem Patriarchal Authority for Development in Gozarto and Euphrates Father Gabriel Khajo.
During the Holy Liturgy, Archbishop Amsih addressed the Confirmed, urging them to keep fasting, praying, and attending Sunday Mass. He also urged them to obey their parents and follow the teachings of Christ, citing from the Holy Gospel: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood will have eternal life.”
Archbishop Amsih called on the parents to be positive examples for their children by following the teachings of Christ, because the children are the future of the Church.
The children then took Communion for the first time as their mother’s saying hymns.
