Syriac Orthodox Church of Our Lady in Hasakah in North and East Syria celebrates first Communion of 28 children and adolescents
HASAKAH, Syria — The Syriac Orthodox Church of Our Lady in Nasera, Hasakah, celebrated the First Communion of 28 children and adolescents. The ceremony was attended by Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of the Diocese of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor. Maurice Amsih, Pastor of the Monastery of Our Lady in Tel Wardiat Father Aphrem Hanou, Episcopal Vicar of the Chaldean Church for Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Father Nidal Thomas, Father Elias Qass Elias, and a number of deacons, parents, and worshippers.
During the ceremonial Mass, Archbishop Amsih addressed those taking their first Holy Communion, urging them to persevere in fasting, praying, attending Sunday mass, obeying parents, and following the teachings of Christ.
Archbishop Amsih also called on the parents of children to set a positive example for their children in attending Mass, adhering to the teachings of the Church and the commandments of Christ, and raising them well because they are the future of the Church.
The children then came to receive their first Communion.
