BAGHDEDE, Iraq — In the presence of Baghdede District Mayor Essam Bahnam Matti, a ceremony was held to distribute certificates of appreciation to the departments of the district which played a prominent role in the work of the lighting project recently completed in cooperation with the Directorate of Hamdaniya.
During the ceremony, Mayor Matti gave a speech thanking all those who contributed to the success of the street lighting project, which extends from the entrance of the district to the intersection, a distance of some 7km. The project will contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents that were previously occurring due to lack of lighting, said Matti.
The project was supported and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development as part of a program to help Nineveh Plains recover from the damage caused by the Islamic State (ISIS) and the war waged to liberate the areas under ISIS occupation.
