Syrian Democratic Forces anti-terrorism operation in Wadi Ajij area of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) ends, 12 ISIS hideouts destroyed
DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of North and East Syria announced the end of the anti-terrorism operation in Wadi Ajij area of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), conducted with the support of the U.S.-led International Coalition.
The four-day operation saw the continuous flight of International Coalition helicopters over the area and rocket strikes targeting specific positions used by cells of the Islamic State (ISIS), said a statement by the Media Center.
The aim of the operation was to detect smuggling routes used by ISIS to move between eastern Syria and western Iraq.
During the operation, the SDF patrolled near the border with Iraq in areas adjacent to the Euphrates River. According to the statement, the operation was a success and resulted in the discovery and destruction of 12 ISIS hideouts.
