Syriac Traditions: Feast of the Virgin Mary and the Blessing of the Crops
Every year on May 15, the Syriac Orthodox celebrate the Feast of the Virgin Mary and the Blessing of the Crops. The Feast of the Virgin Mary is the day when farmers seek the Virgin Mary’s intercession for good sowings and harvests and her blessings for their land, grain and wheat.
In agricultural areas, where Syriac Orthodox people have kept to their traditions and rituals for centuries, Syriacs don’t work and their workplaces are closed.
