Hekmat Habib elected as new Co-Chair of Legislative Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Region in North and East Syria

AMUDA, Syria — The Legislative Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Region in the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria held its regular session on Thursday in Amuda.

During the session, members of the Council elected the representative of the Arab National Authority, Hekmat Habib, as new Co-Chair of the Council. Habib succeeds former Co-Chair Hussein Azzam who had submitted his resignation.

The other nominee for the Co-Chairship was Representative of the National Coordination Committee Fassal al-Hussein. After voting, Habib was elected by a majority of votes.

Habib was previously Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) of North and East Syria.
