First collectively run women’s dairy factory opens in Gozarto (Jazira) Region of North and East Syria
DAYRIK, Syria — On Sunday, the Women’s Department of the Economic Commission of Gozarto (Jazira) Region in North and East Syria inaugurated the Zozan Cheese and Dairy Factory in Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah), first of its kind i Gozarto Region.
During the inauguration ceremony, Co-Chair of the Executive Council in Gozarto Region Nazira Goreya delivered a speech in which she indicated that the collectively run women’s dairy factory is the first of its kind in the Region and the second in factory in North and East of Syria.
She also stressed that the goal of establishing the factory is to develop the participation of women in the economy, provide opportunities for them, and ensure self-sufficiency.
Goreya pointed out the success that women have achieved in all the fields — political, military, and economical — as well as the project undertaken by the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) to develop the economy of the region.
The opening of such projects, she added, is also aimed at easing the suffocating economic blockade of North and East Syria by Turkey and the Syrian regime and benefitting from abundant raw materials available in the region.
Co-Chair of the Economy Authority in Gozarto Region Hadiya Ali stated to SyriacPress that the goal of the factory is to reduce imports, as well as improve self-sufficiency and local production.
“This factory was prepared a year ago under the supervision of the DAA Women’s Economy Department,” Ali added, indicating that the factory has secured job opportunities for 25 women.
